13 March 2010 Genealogy Expo Sponsored by Savannah River Valley Society, Hartwell, GA Saturday, March 13 11:00am - 3:00pm  Author and local historian, Jimmy C. Waters will be reading from his historic novel, Blood Oath, a novel that focuses on local history for the North Georgia area. It tells of the complex relationship of the Cherokee in North Georgia and the white early settlers in the Tugaloo River basin, a part of which is now Lake Hartwell. In particular, the spiritual nature of both of these groups will be emphasized, with a focus on several historic characters who were the first to settle Franklin County Georgia. Mr. Waters second history novel, New Bern: 1710 in the Carolinas will also be available for purchase. He is currently working on his third historic fiction novel. June 2010 17 June 36th Annual Polk County Pioneer Luncheon will be held at the Bartow Civic Center. All seats must be reserved in advance. Cost $15 per person. Reservation close on Friday, June 11. No refunds after that date. This year the Pioneer interviews conducted by S. L. Frisbie will be held at the PGTV Studio at a time and date arranged with the pioneer.
